I recently purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad P51 laptop. It has an Intel i7-7700HQ processor. I purchased this laptop due to many of our suppliers software being obsolete, and not being able to get software to work on new Microsoft Platforms.
This laptop is running Windows 7 Pro X64. I setup the Virtual XP Mode to
utilize the XP for older software platforms.
I am having issues with the USB ports. This laptop has all USB 3.0, which is not supported on the XP side. In the past, with other PC's, I have simply went into the BIOS, and shut off the USB 3.0 control, and all the ports reverted to USB2.0, and all was fine.
This motherboard does not give me the option of doing this. It has a series 100/C230 Intel chipset. If I go into the device manager, and shut off the Intel USB3.0 eXtensible Host Controller, then the USB ports do not work at all.
Any suggestions as to how to remedy this situation. Is there an adaptor from USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 that I can use. I believe the driver is the issue.
Any driver updates, or any way to make all the ports, or even 2 of the ports function as USB 2.0.
