I want to upgrade my HP 2560P which has a Celeron B840 processor to an i5-3320M.
Problem is when I installed the processor the laptop tries to boot, but immediately shuts down. A few seconds later it tries to boot again, automatically, but fails again.
The BIOS is updated to the most recent version, F62. According to the specs they have the same socket, so I was not expecting a problem.
Question is if I overlooked something? They are incompatible? Or the processor is broken? (I bought it second-hand)

Already figured it out. i5-3320M is incompatible with the motherboard chipset.

Hello noob99,
I apologize for jumping late to the conversation.
Your computer chipset is the Mobile Intel QM67 Express chipset. I regret to confirm that information that you already figured out it's correct, the compatible chipsets models for your processor, the Intel® Core™ i5-3320M Processor are;
Intel® QS77 PCH
Intel® QM77 PCH
Intel® HM77 PCH
Intel® HM76 PCH
Intel® HM75 PCH
Sorry for that, if there is something else I can help you with let me know.
Regards,
Amy.
