Video TDR Error

Hello,

I have been getting this error a lot lately, and it is very frustrating. My pc gets the dreaded BSOD and then reboots itself. I bet I've gotten this error 15 times over the past month, and I'm very concerned my CPU may be dying a slow death. I don't know if this is simply a driver-related issue or a faulty CPU. I know I am very frustrated right now and would like to get this resolved. I've already provided info here.

Also, for some strange reason my CPU now takes an extra few seconds during POST. The CPU fan will "twitch" about 3 or 4 times (a few seconds apart from each) before finally kicking in and booting into Windows. I've never seen it do this before until recently, and I haven't added anything to my system. I sure hope my CPU isn't about to die on me. I am very concerned about this, Intel.

Hi Chef-Jeff,

As a workaround, try turningn off all DXVA / hardware acceleration. There is a setting for it in the browser (Firefox: Options - Advanced - Use HW acceleration) and in most video players (turn off DXVA, for example in MPC-HC: Use "System Default" output). This is the only way to avoid crashes and freezes with these drivers; let everything be calculated in software by the CPU, no GPU-acceleration.

We are currently working towards a solution but there is no ETA yet for a fix for this issue.

Hello Chef-Jeff,

Have you tried downloading the latest Chipset driver and the latest BIOS version? In case you haven't try here is the link https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z87PROV_EDITION/HelpDesk_Download/ https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z87PROV_EDITION/HelpDesk_Download/.

Please run the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool available here https://downloadcenter.intel.com/downloads/eula/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool-64-bit-?httpDown=https://downloadmirror.intel.com/19792/eng/IPDT_Installer_2.11.0.0.W-2_x86_2.20.0.0.W.MP-1_x64.exe IPDT_Installer_2.11.0.0.W-2_x86_2.20.0.0.W.MP-1_x64.exe. Once the diagnostic is done go to File>View Results File and sent us that file.

If the issue persists please try the following option;

http://www.tcsscreening.com/files/users/IPDT_LiveUSB/Documents/The%20Intel%20Processor%20Diagnostic%20Tool%20in%20Fedora%20Live%20OS%20User%20Guide%20-%20Rev%2010.pdf http://www.tcsscreening.com/files/users/IPDT_LiveUSB/Documents/The%20Intel%20Processor%20Diagnostic%20Tool%20in%20Fedora

Here it the link for the software needed http://www.tcsscreening.com/files/users/IPDT_LiveUSB/LiveUSB/index.html Documents. Once the diagnostic is done go to File>View Results File and sent us that file.

The third option mentioned will allow us through Linux to run Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool without any interference that OS might create.

Regards,

Amy.
