WHEA-Logger Event ID 17

On my HP Envy 360 several times a day I am getting WHEA-Logger Event ID 17 errors. General info says:

A corrected hardware error has occurred.

Component: PCI Express Root Port

Error Source: Advanced Error Reporting (PCI Express)

Bus:Device:Function: 0x0:0x1C:0x0

Vendor ID:Device ID: 0x8086:0x9D13

Class Code: 0x30400

I have checked and updated all drivers from HP, as well as Intel. I called HP, and they said it needed to come in for warranty repair. All they did was update it to Windows 1809, and run diags. It passes all Diags, which I told them when I sent it in.

I have run Windows verifier on all the drivers for 36 hours and get no BSODs.

Any suggestions?

Hello 56Kruiser, This issue can be caused by outdated drivers, BIOS, or 3rd party software. To resolve this issue, we recommend checking the following information: A. Make sure the chipset driver is up to date. B. Load default BIOS values. C. Make sure you are running the latest BIOS. We recommend contacting your system manufacturer in case you need to update BIOS. D. Is your system running within specifications? (No overclokcing; Undervolting) Wanner G. I have updated all drivers from HP site; 3 that weren't listed on HP site, but is on Intel site: Have updated bios, all set to default; system is stock, no overclocking or undervolting.

I had sent the unit to HP to repair. All they did was install latest version of Windows 1809.

No communication about the problem reason I sent it.

Error continues.

A guess a bigger concern for me: Given that it says "A corrected hardware erroro has occurtd"...do I have a problem with the hardware or not? I find it interesting that it is corrected.

If there is a hardware problem, I definitely want to get it fixed while on warranty. That siad, I sent it in while on warranty, but warranty stopped a few days ago. But I think I could resend it based on it having been in on this problem already.

Hello 56Kruiser, These error messages may be caused by operating system updates, drivers or 3rd party applications. If your system shows error messages even after installing the drivers customized for your system, we recommend contacting your system manufacturer for warranty options and support. Wanner G. Thanks for the reply, Wanner.

This is interesting...as it is confusing when it indicates a "corrected hardware error". Make me think there is a hardware issue.

Working with HP is useless. I had actually sent it in on warranty, and they sent it back after just wiping and installing v1809 of Windows. When I got it back I had to install updated drivers, and Windows updates, none of which stopped the error.

I guess all I can do is live with it. I"m more comfortable if it in tact is not really a hardware error. I wanted it to be fixed if that was the case. It does pass all of HP's diags.

Hello 56Kruiser, Receiving these error messages usually does not mean that a component is faulty. Most of the times they suggest that there are driver/OS or system conflicts. Even though you are running the latest Windows* build (RS5), we recommend checking Windows* Updates, scan and apply all of them if available. You can also go into Windows* Device Manager and look for error codes. If applying the latest driver/OS updates does not alleviate this problem, you can also perform a clean boot. In that way, you can determine if 3rd party applications are causing these issues. Latest...

I've been checking 2-3 times a day for any updates from Windows Update, HP Support Assistant, and Intel'd Driver utility. I also did browse the Device Device Manager, found nothing with !.

Yesterday when I did a Windows Update, it did install January 22, 2019—KB4476976 (OS Build 17763.292),

This morning when I got up the computer had apparently booted from sleep during the night, was at a dark screen that would not come on. A click of the power button turned the unit off immediately. Below are results:

The fellow at TenForums said I should completely do a refresshed Windows install (which HP did last week), and not install any programs and run it for 2 weeks and see if it happens.

I'm about ready to call HP again, but I"m not hopeful they will be any help.
