Hello RBien2,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

Please run the following tool and attach the reports generated.

1. Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU)

  • Intel® SSU Download link
  • Open the application and click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel® SSU will take you to the "Summary View". \
  • Click on the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
  • To save your scan, click on "Next", then "Save".

Questions:

  • Have you tried a clean operating system installation?
  • Have you run BIOS default settings?
  • Just to confirm, I can see that you are unable to disable overclocking settings to Readme doc? may I know what is the Doc and is this an Intel® Core™ i7-8700K Processor or Intel® Core™ i7-8700 Processor?
  • Have you run a memtest to test the memory RAM?

Regards,

Thx for the reply, cpu is i8700, the document in regards to overclocking is the readme on the ipdt

download tool bios is current and about 6 months old, problem started 4weeks ago, and a fresh OS install didn’t fix issue. IPDT still fails on prime number.

And memory tests pass and so does cpu using HP’s diag’s (HP’s cpu test only runs for 10 seconds and doesn’t appear to be as extensive as Ipdt). Ipdt fails prime number every time.

Hello RBien2,

Thank you for your reply.

Based on the BSOD provided WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR & CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT the issue could be related to hardware issue/ drivers corrupted, however, you already installed the operating system several times, the memory was successfully tested and as you mentioned your BIOS is up to date (some OEM's might release new BIOS versions to correct BSOD). The IPDT (Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool) is showing that there is something wrong with the processor specifically CPU 1 - Prime Number based on this I will recommend you to contact your local support for further assistance regarding the warranty of the processor

or if your system is a prebuilt tower or laptop you might check the warranty options with the system manufacturer.

Best regards,
