Hello, I have a Compaq Presario model number SR5410F... Motherboard is MS-7525 Ver1.0 I found this site that says acceptable upgrades for the processor.

What i want to know is what would be a good upgrade for my CPU to be faster to play more high end games? I currently only have 1.8GHz and im looking for at least 2. I found a few CPU on Ebay, but im not sure if they will even fit, I know its socket 775 but that doesnt mean much i know. I just dont know what my motherboard can handle i dont wanna screw it up by getting one too powerful. I found a few CPUs under 30 bucks that are the speed im looking for just not sure if they will work. any help would be appreciated. If you need more info dont hesitate and i can pretty much give you any info.

also i found this on Ebay, there are a lot similar to this i was wondering if my motherboard would be capable of running this and if it would make a difference? also i have upgraded my comp to 2g of RAM as well. http://cgi.ebay.com/Intel-Pentium-4-2-8GHz-1M-800-CPU-Processor-775-SL7J5-/350418101467?pt=CPUs&hash=item51968be4db# ht_500wt_898 http://cgi.ebay.com/Intel-Pentium-4-2-8GHz-1M-800-CPU-Processor-775-SL7J5-/350418101467?pt=CPUs&hash=item51968be4db# ht_500wt_898

You need to contact Compaq* for them to provide you a full compatible list of processors for your Compaq* system.

Keep in mind that we do not recommend buying Intel products on online auctions like ebay.com, since there is not way for Intel to determine if the product was previously working or not, so we do not provide any kind of warranty for this type of products.

We recommend buying products from Authorized Intel(R) Distributors.

You can find a list of Authorized Intel(R) Distributors at:

In order to determine wich processors can be install on your system to have an upgrade, you need to contact the system manufacturer, in this case Compaq*

A E6800 Wolfdale dual core would be a good choice . New at NEWEGG $100.00. 3.3 Dual core . A real solid CPU. Or if you dare try Ebay.
