Hello, @BamsiByrek
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I will gladly assist you here.
The processors may have general purposes, however, there are processors which are more suitable for gaming than others depending on your needs with the PC, for example, the processors with higher clock speeds might be a better fit since video games represent a high workload and processors with high clock speeds endure better than others with lower clock speeds.
Other additional features that gaming processors have are integrated graphics, which have now more technologies to perform better in gaming, editing or even streaming video, and Overclocking can also be a useful way to increase the clock speed, and tools like Intel® Speed Optimizer make it easier than ever to achieve a stable overclock if you need it, only the processors with "X" or "K" suffixes have this feature.
Assuming you have the right hardware, such as a proper cooling solution and a motherboard that supports overclocking, you can enjoy the benefits of faster clock speeds with an unlocked CPU. However, take in mind that altering clock frequency or voltage may damage or reduce the useful life of the processor and other system components and may reduce system stability and performance. If the processor is used outside of its specifications, the manufacturer's warranty may be voided.
However, take in mind that will also depend on the type of games you wish to play, since each game has its own CPU requirements. You can learn more about how to choose a gaming processor and more features of these in these articles:
Intel® Processors for Gaming and Names Explanation
Clock speed is one of your CPU’s key specifications — but what does it really mean?
