Intel say that the Maximum Operating Temperature of your CPU is 100C. And that "...this is the maximum operating temperature allowed as reported by temperature sensors. Instantaneous temperature may exceed this value for short durations. Note: Maximum observable temperature is configurable by system vendor and can be design specific."
The maximum temperature you see in use is controlled by a number of factors - ambient temperature, BIOS settings, system fans, CPU cooler - which can lead to temperatures being closer to or further away from 100C. Exceeding 100C leads to throttling which can cause loss of performance but is not unsafe. BIOS settings and/or cooling should be adjusted to avoid this.
