Which processor is better, and by how much.

Skyrim worked fine for me on my XP computer, until Steam cut old computers off. It works almost fine on my Win 7 CP, except for the player movements being jerky. Same mods installed. Changing settings did nothing.

Windows XP Home 32 bit, Intel Core 2 Quad Cpu Q6600 @2.40 GHz (4CPUs) vs

Windows 7 Pro 64bit, Intel Core 2 Duo Cpu E8400@3.00GHz (2CPUs) ~3.0ghz.

The Win7's computer has a video card with twice the RAM the XP computer has, plus 6GB to 4GB of Ram. So is the XP processor better then the Win7 one? Granted, the XP computer was top of the line when I bought it, and the Win7 was just supposed to to business tasks, which is why I had to buy the graphics card to run skyrim, but there's over ten years between the two. Answering this question will go along way towards helping me. If it's the processor, I think I know how to fix it, it'll just be a whole lot of work. If it's not, then I think I would have finally narrowed it down and could fix the problem. Thanks in advance.

You can compare the two processors here:

These processors are from 2007 and 2008. Nothing you have is worth recycling or using. "Which is better" is irrelevant

Get a new(er) computer that is supported by Windows 10. Windows XP has been history since 2014, and you have less than nine months to go on Windows 7.

I hope 8 MB L2 cache in Q6600 is enough for Skyrim vs E8400 6 MB L2 cache.

It is not going to make any difference.

You are grasping at straws.

Get a new(er) computer.
