I'm looking into buying a desktop, either from Dell or HP. Dell offers Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q8200 (4MB L2, 2.33GHz, 1333FSB) and HP offers Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor E7400 [2.8GHz, 3MB L2, 1066MHz FSB. I don't understand what all these specs mean. All I know that higher the GHz number the better. Are there any pros to either one? What should I be looking for when choosing a processor? If someone could explain to me in simple terms, I would really apprieciate it.

Hi Monia,
Well, usually to compare CPU features, I used the site below:
Website: http://ark.intel.com http://ark.intel.com
Things that are important to check:
Speed,
Virtualisation,
64 bit OS Support,
Thermal Design Power,
Enhanced Intel® Speedstep Technology etc.
Everything is explained clearly, if you need help, feel to ask us.
All the best,
Regards,
Aryan
