I hope to buy a platform that supports both optane persistent memory and SGX.
So is there a processor supports both optane persistent memory and SGX?
Thanks

Hello taiyu-zhou,
Thank you for joining the community,
I understand that you are looking for an Intel Processor that supports both Intel® SGX and Intel® Optane™ Persistent Memory. To maintain security properties, the Intel Optane Persistent Memory 200 Series does not work with Intel SGX.
To verify if an Intel Processor supports Intel® SGX you can verify the Security & Reliability category on their Ark page for Product Specifications. For example the Intel® Xeon® Processor E3-1260L v5 on this link:
It is important to note as well that Just because an SGX feature is supported in the processor does not mean that is enabled in the BIOS. You must confirm with the system manufacturer if the SGX feature you are interested in is supported in the BIOS
Lastly, you can verify the Compatibility Information for Intel® Optane™ Persistent Memory on the following link:
Please let me know if there is anything else that we can do for you, in case we do not hear from you, we are going to follow-up on 10/12th.

Hi paul,
I find the intel Xeon platinum 8380 processor seems to support optane 100 series and SGX.
So can I buy this processor to use SGX and optane pm?

Hello taiyu-zhou,
Thank you very much for the waiting time, after my investigation, I found that these features can't work together, on either series 100 or 200, once SGX is enabled the Persistent module is disabled, so you will have to choose which one you would like to use.
Please let me know if you have any further questions. If I do not hear from you I will follow up in 2 business days.
Best regards,
Paul R.

Hello Paul R. ,
I'm also interested in this question. I wonder what "SGX is enabled the Persistent module is disabled" means. What if I use NVM in flat mode (App Direct), where I use SGX on DRAM as the traditional case, and switch to untrusted domain when I need to handle NVM interfaces, that is, I do not try to directly call NVM interfaces in enclave. Is it supported?
