Hello VSing54,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

Can we have the model of the processors the 8th and 9th generation so we can compare them and provide you more information?

The reason why the processors for laptops are not available for desktops is because they have different technologies and they have been made for different porpuses, for example, the processors for laptops are made to save power consumption, the size of the chipset is different, the system manufactures can customized their own components to work with laptop processors, the heat that the laptop processor produces is different because the airflow and case type is different than a desktop computer.

Pricing is purely a function of supply and demand. If 9th gen processors are selling in higher volumes, the 8th gen processor could be more expensive.
