Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64Bit

I realise I shall probably be shot down in flames for asking this but, I'd like someone to recommend the latest Version/Gen of processor which will allow me to continue using the Win7 O/S above.

The bulk of my work is Desktop publishing, Image processing, and Video creation/editing, plus the usual Internet browsing etc.

I'm sure there are many who will tell me the advantages of migrating to Win10-11 but, I have looked, and don't like either.

It is not an issue of the processor by itself.  Any new processor is going to require a different motherboard, memory, etc.  There will likely NOT be drivers available for the devices on the new motherboard for windows 7.

It is also not an issue of whether or not you like Windows 10 or Windows 11.   It is an issue of support.  I would have stayed on W7 forever (well, maybe not that long), but the fact is that things change, new devices are introduced, operating system support is for new products, not old, and W7 (according to Microsoft), is not supported on 7th gen and later processors.

So, my recommendation is to make the leap.  The more you delay, the worse it will get.   And, right now, W11 is your path as W10 is planned for retirement soon (well, a year or so).   This means you are looking at an 11th gen or later processor.  Forget 8th, 9th, and 10th gen, as things like graphics are already unsupported on those processors.

See what I mean?   The world is advancing, except for you.   Catch up now, or be seriously left behind.

My thanks for responding.

However, although I thought I'd made things clear in my post, the first recommendation directs me toward Win 10/11, precisely what I did not require.

I am aware a new motherboard is required but, as there is no intention - now or in the future - to add "new devices", I doubt the matter of Drivers will arise, or cause handicap. 

So no, I shall not "take the leap", as you suggest, for the reasons already stated.

The matter IS whether I like Win 10/11 or not for, if the day arrives when, for whatever reason, my Win7 world grinds to a halt -- I shall change to Linux.

I advance, or retreat, at my pace - not at the speed which Microsoft expect.
