Tried pairing a profile with an executable that contains a single quote (i.e ...er's.exe).  This causes an unhandled exception when loading the GUI.

A snippet from the GUI log file:

The executable also has a space in the name.  So like... Executable's Name.exe.

telefunk, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.

In order for us to provide the most accurate assistance on this scenario, we just wanted to confirm a few details about your system:

What is the model of the motherboard?

What is the model of the Intel® processor?

If this is a laptop, what is the model of it?

Is this a new computer?

When did you purchase it?

Was Intel® XTU working fine before when trying pairing a profile with an executable that contains a single quote on this same machine?

When did the issue start?

Did you make any recent hardware/software changes that might cause this problem?

Which Windows* version are you using?

Does the problem happen at home or in the work environment?

Please attach the SSU report so we can verify further details about the components in your platform, check all the options in the report including the one that says "3rd party software logs":

  • Gigabyte laptop MB
  • i7-11800H
  • Gigabyte Auros 15P XD
  • 6 months
  • July 2020
  • XTU worked fine before pairing and after by manually removing pairing from the config file (ProcessProfiles.xml).  Was able to reproduce by re-adding pairing.
  • Issue started when attempting to restart XTU (GUI).  Was able to save it and XTU continued to run but failed to re-open after exiting.
  • No changes.
  • Windows 10 21H2 (19044.1415)
  • At home.

Hello telefunk, Thank you very much for providing that information.

In reference to this case, just to let you know, the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (XTU) is fully compatible only with unlocked and extreme Intel® processors, those are the ones where the model ends with a K or an X as you can confirm in the link below. So any discrepancies or instabilities while using a different kind of processor will be expected for the tool. Please take a look at the list of Intel® supported processors for the Intel® XTU application:
