XTU Prompting to Reboot to Apply Changes; Doesn't Apply after Reboot

XTU cannot apply CPU voltage offset changes without a reboot, and changes are not applied after reboot. Effectively, I cannot apply any changes.

The BIOS is current.

The chipset drivers are current.

XTU has been re-installed.

TIA

Hi, undercoat27.

Thank you for posting in our Intel communities.

I viewed the image that you provided in this thread, and I see that the processor that you have (Intel Core i7-8850H) is not supported by Intel XTU. When the tool is installed in your system with an unsupported processor, you can view system information parameters such as processor information and motherboard and BIOS information. However, using the tool to change parameters in your system, such as CPU voltage, can result in inconclusive and unreliable behavior due to an unsupported processor.

Some versions of Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility can be installed on laptops or systems and these versions will not work for overclocking purposes. This is because overclocking with Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility only works for Intel® Core™ processors that include the letter K or X in the product line suffix.

Just wanna share this link: (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/17881/29183/intel-extreme-tuning-utility-intel-xtu.html?wapkw=xtu), where you can find the supported processors for XTU.

Hello, thank you for the reply.

I've undervolted and overclocked this CPU using XTU before. So have others on the same platform - Lenovo Thinkpad P1 Gen 1

I actually had an undervolt successfully applied before updating the main board BIOS, and after that this problem was presented.

Thanks

Hi, undercoat27.

Thank you for your response. I understand that you undervolt successfully did this before. Please know, however, that Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility can be installed in laptops but it will not work for overclocking purposes. This is because overclocking with Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility only works for processors with K, KF, or X in their processor number. As such, Intel XTU may or may not work on unsupported processors, even if the tool is installed correctly on your system, the tool will support only a processor with the letters K, KF, or X in its numbers. You may refer to the articles/links below:
