Newly built PC - want to undervolt CPU however all options greyed out in XTU

System is running 13700KF which is supported by XTU as stated by download page

Z790 motherboard allows unlocked overclocking so shouldn't be issue

XTU just downloaded on new system

Windows up-to-date

BIOS is up to date

Any ideas as to why this is?

Hello @FL123

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

Checking one of the screenshots that you provided (XTU_1.png), it seems the motherboard is running BIOS version 1.21.

However, based on ASRock's website, there is a newer (stable) BIOS version available for this device: 2.04.

Therefore, as the first approach, we recommend updating the BIOS on your motherboard. Please contact ASRock* Support for further assistance, information, and installation instructions with the BIOS.

After updating the BIOS, we recommend loading BIOS defaults and then checking with the ASRock Support team in case it is required to adjust additional BIOS settings to allow Intel® XTU to properly access the BIOS's overclocking capabilities.

If the behavior persists, you can try the following steps:

1- Uninstall the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU) by following the steps on the link.

2- Download and reinstall the latest version of Intel® XTU 7.9.1.3.

3- Just in case, please double-check that the operating system (OS) is up to date and install any pending/new updates. Refer to Update Windows*.

4- If the above steps do not work, you may try to reinstall the OS if you are willing and confident in performing this step. (If so, make sure you back up all your information before trying this).

If the problem continues, please provide us with the following information:

a- Do you have any overclocking or auto-tuning apps running on the system?

b- Are you using any virtualization software, or any of the following Windows* features: Core Isolation Memory Integrity, Hyper-V?

c- Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) to gather more details about the system:

  • Download the Intel® SSU and save the application on your computer
  • Open the application, check the "Everything" checkbox, and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. The Intel® SSU defaults to the "Summary View" on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
  • To save your scan, click Next and click Save.
  • Once you have saved the file (.txt file), please attach it to your reply.

To upload and attach a file, use the "Drag and drop here or browse files to attach" option below the response textbox.

Best regards,

Andrew G.
