XTU resets after waking up the computer

Hi everyone,

I need help from you. I have successfully changed my Turbo Boost values in Intel XTU (Extreme tuning utility) because I was experiencing constant FPS drops in League of Legends. I changed Turbo Boost Power Max from 17W to 12W (But it says that default is 25W, idk why..) and it worked. But here is the thing. When I close the lid of my Ultrabook Fujitsu FNBB31 and then open it again, waking it up from a sleep, the values reset but XTU does not show. I have to restart system for the XTU to show correct values, which reset to default. So I have to restart my computer an configure Turbo Boost in XTU everytime I go playing League of Legends. Its so annoying, please help me and have a nice day

Hello, JakuBlaha.

Thank you very much for contacting the Intel® Communities Team.

I understand you are having some problems with the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility tool since everytime you close the lid of your Ultrabook Fujitsu FNBB31 it reset its settings back to default. Allow me to help you regarding this issue you are facing.

In this case, for me to perform a deeper research regarding your issue, I would like to gather more information about the configuration you have on the computer. Please attach to this thread the TXT file the Intel® System Support Utility will generate: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility

To attach a file, you must click the "Attach" option on the bottom right-hand corner of the response box.

In addition, can you provide the version of the Intel® XTU version you are using?

Hi

I have a 7700HQ processor and installed the intel extreme utility program but regretted right away without changing anything and uninstalled.

But I noticed it changed something to my pc settings especially my fans are a lot more loud. I think it has to do with the turbo boost tecnology.

What do you advise me to do? Restore windows maybe?

help thanks

Hello, beastfcj. Thank you very much for joining this thread.

Firstly, I would like to mention that the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility tool it is intended for unlocked/overclockable processor (cf. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24075/Intel-Extreme-Tuning-Utility-Intel-XTU- Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility download page, supported products section), therefore, if using this application with a non-supported processor, the results may vary.

Then, mobile processor, as the Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ, can be modified by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of the system as their convenience. In order to get your processor's settings back to default please get in touch with your OEM so they can provide you with further assistance.

Hello, JakubBlaha.

Thank you very much for your reply and the information provided.

In this case, by checking on this image you have attached, you are using the 6.4.1.15 version and by the error you are receiving; I would highly recommend you to uninstall the current version of the XTU you have and install the latest version (6.4.1.19). Please find the download link here: https://downloadmirror.intel.com/24075/eng/xtu-setup-exe.exextu-setup-exe.exe https://downloadmirror.intel.com/24075/eng/xtu-setup-exe.exextu-setup-exe.exe

Allow me to share with you that I ran some tests at our labs with the latest version of the XTU. First I used an Intel® NUC7i7BNH and, after modifying the XTU setting and restart the unit, the settings did not reset back to defaults. Then, I used a Lenovo™ ThinkPad T540p laptop and I changed the settings of the XTU; when came back from sleep the setting were the same and I was able to access the software nevertheless, when I restarted the machine, the settings went back to defaults.

You might want to verify with your system manufacturer if there is any restriction on your system that avoids your processor's settings to be modified.
