Hi, I am using Xeon CPU (skylake) and want to utilize the intel I/OAT for xor/xor_val operations. But I found when the function dma_request_channel is called with mask for xor/xor_val, the return channel is NULL. It succeeded with a mask for memcpy. I am thrilled to know whether these two operations are not supported or I am in the wrong way to use them. The OS is linux 18.04 with kernel 5.9.9. Thanks.

harryji, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.
In order for us to provide the most accurate assistance on this topic, we just wanted to confirm a few details about your system:
What is the model of the Intel® processor?
What is the model of the motherboard?
Was it working fine before in reference to the function dma_request_channel?
When did the issue start?
Did you make any recent hardware/software changes that might cause this problem?
Does the problem happen at home or in the work environment?
Please attach the SSU report so we can verify further details about the components in your platform, check all the options in the report including the one that says "3rd party software logs":
Any questions, please let me know.
Regards,
Albert R.

Hi Albert,
Here is the information you require:
Processor: Intel Xeon 6138P, Motherboard: S2600BT. The system works fine before calling the dma_request_channel function. I didn't make any hardware/software changes except the kernel update to 5.9.9. The issue appears in the work environment. The SSU file is attached.

Hello harryji,
Thank you for the additional information, when you are running the Intel I/OAT for xor/xor_val operations are you getting any type of error or log, if so can you please share those logs or a screenshot where you are noticing an error?
Additionally, can you please provide us the link of the Intel(R) product that you are using?
Did you notice this error before?
We will be looking forward to your updates.
Best regards,
Sergio S.
