Xeon E3-1275 v3 temperature question

I am using a SIMATIC IPC847D industrial computer.

The manufacturer is Siemens.

The CPU specification is Xeon E3-1275 v3.

Running Passmark Burnin Test increases the CPU temperature to nearly 100 ℃.

Is it normal to go up to 100 ℃?

I think there is a problem with the CPU cooling system.

What about other people's thoughts?

What is the maximum temperature that Xeon E3-1275 v3 can withstand?

I wonder what problems can arise from rising CPU temperatures.

I was reviewing the information provided and I would like to mention some important details;

 

 

I noticed that you have been using a third party software in order to test the processor, due to the fact that the software you used is not a validated software from Intel I would like to recommend you to test the system with the following tool: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/19792/Intel-Processor-Diagnostic-Tool Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool.

 

 

On the other hand, it is important to understand that if you are running a burning test of your processor will exceed the regular base frequency which means that the processor will increase the temperature as well.

 

 

However, is the server system getting the 100 ℃ on a regular usage or running simple tasks?

 

Have you been noticing a low performance, random shutdowns or BSOD (Blue Screen of death/Kenel Panics)?

 

 

If you consider the problem could be related to the CPU Cooling System, I would like to inform you that the Thermal Design Power (TDP) your processor need to work fine is between 84W to 95W. The TDP represents the average power, in watts, the processor dissipates when operating at Base Frequency with all cores active under an Intel-defined, high-complexity workload.

 

 

For example, for a 95W TDP part, the Tcase maximum is 72.6 °C and at a worst case design point of 40 °C local ambient this will result in: ΨCA = (72.6 – 40) / 95 = 0.34 °C/W.

Thank you for your answer.

When you use the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool as you mentioned, 'Fail' occurs as shown in the image below.

Fail occurred only in the CPU IMC, so no further testing can be performed.

Is this a CPU problem? Or is it a problem with the main board?

Hello,

Thank you so much for the information provided.

The Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) is related to the processor.

My best recommendation is to test the processor into a different motherboard in order to confirm the test and see if the issue still persists. If it will persist the processor is getting defective.

Please provide to me the outcome in order to double check the information.
