Just tried to upgrade my ssd on an Inspiron 12th generation intel with B660 chipset and found out Dell designed board with only Pcie Gen 3 bus. Same situation with 2023 13th generation Intel boards. Any way to upgrade?
If the design is utilizing PCIe 3.0 lanes from the PCH to support the M.2 Type M socket, then you are stuck with this; there is no way to upgrade it (well, other than looking at a full laptop replacement).
