Please contact the motherboard manufacturer so they can provide you a list of fully supported processors for your motherboard.

Keep in mind that the compatibility between the processor and the motherboard is determined by the motherboard manufacturer.

For a list of available Intel processors please check this link:

I looked up the link before I noticed there was a prior reply with a similiar link: http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/list.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&s=22&m=P5G41C-M http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/list.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&s=22&m=P5G41C-MLX&os=29&hashedid=YraY16Bgg3U1mAW1

I can see your Processor the 2180 with a Front Side Buss (FSB) clock of 800, that is definitely one place where you can improve the speed, plus there are others with a higher operating frequency your at 2.0 MHz and I can see several faster. Here is the Processor I would pick: Pentium Dual Core E6800 (3.3GHz,1066FSB,L2:2MB,rev.R0). First it has a faster FSB of 1066 and a 3.3 GHz operating frequency but the L2 is only 2MB. The best processor I would pick is the: Core 2 Quad Q9650(rev.E0,3.00GHz,1333FSB,L2:12MB). Again it has even fast FSB of 1333, and an operating frequency of 3.0GHz with a much larger L2 cache of 12MB. I believe the 1333 FSB is a key choice, the 12 MB l2 Cache is also larger, that is my pick from the ASUS list of processors that will work on your P5G41C-M LX Motherboard. Good Luck, hope this helps.

I should have mentioned you only have 2MB of Memory, right? One of the best upgrades would be additional memory, your Motherboard can handle 8 MB so find some memory that meets this spec: 2 x DIMM, Max. 8 GB, DDR3 1333(O.C.)/1066/800 Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory

That is easily available from the on-line stores, just Google DDR3 1333 and you will find many suppliers. I would actually do that upgrade before I change the processor. Also please make sure your bios is up to date. You can download the latest Bios files at:

http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&s=22&m=P5G41C-M LX&os=29&hashedid=YraY16Bgg3U1mAW1 http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&s=22&m=P5G41C-M LX&os=29&hashedid=YraY16Bgg3U1mAW1

Note on my prior link I did not get the whole link inserted so you would have to copy it and paste it into the browser for it to work, I got this one right. You can actually use this like to find the other downloads for this Motherboard.
