I am a graphic artist

and I plan to make large hi-resolution graphics

5ft x 12ft  and more

several hundred GO files, up to TB files

is the actual fastest intel processor

intel core i9-10900K

or

intel core i9-10900KF

adequate or gross overkill

or another processor would be adequate

cornellier, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.

In reference to your question, when you are working with graphics, the first thing that we recommend will be to verify the requirements on the applications that you are planning to use to make large hi-resolution graphics 5ft x 12ft and more, several hundred GO files, once you know the requirements then you will be able to choose which components to get for your platform to make sure it will support them.

Now, these 10th generation Intel® Processors are actually top of the line along with the 11th generation, they are excellent Processors, as you can see in the link below they are basically the same, they both have 10 cores and they support multi-threading which make them a very reliable product when it comes to multi-tasking, the Processor Base Frequency on both units is very high 3.70 GHz with the option to reach 5.30 GHz when the Max Turbo Frequency gets activated automatically depending on the load of work and also they support 128 GB of memory RAM which is a lot:

However, there is one big difference that you can confirm in the link above as well, the Intel® Core™ i9-10900KF Processor does not include an integrated graphics controller, which means that if you are planning to use that one, it will be necessary to get an external Graphics card, that is why it is very important to very the system requirements of the applications, some of them actually required an external Graphics card for the proper functionality of the tool, and if that is the case the Intel® Core™ i9-10900KF Processor will be the one to choose.

Keep in mind that even though the Processors are a very important piece for a computer, it is not the only thing to check, for a PC to have a good performance it requires a good execution of all the parts, including, HDD/SSD, motherboard, memory RAM, power supply, cooling solution, graphics card, Operating System, even if you get a very good Processor but those other parts are not that good, it will have a direct impact on the performance of the machine.

Just in case, in the following link, you will be able to review the specifications of the Intel® 11th generation Processors that you might be interested in:
