having trouble upgrading my server memory

The CPU of my server are Xeon 8168*2, which supports up to 12 channels of memory.

It was previously a two-channel memory (1 channel per  CPU), and then when I upgraded the memory, I found that there was basically no difference between the bandwidth of an 8-channel memory and a 12-channel memory. I tested the bandwidth tool for the latest version of AIDA 64, regardless of 8 or 12 channels, the memory bandwidth (to memory read data for example) are around 150G / s

I'm pretty sure my RAM is not plugged into the wrong place, and the software recognizes that I have 12 channels of RAM

I mainly use the server for CFD calculations, and memory bandwidth is critical to the speed of the calculation

Hello 404,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

From the information that you provided, it seems your system is detecting the DIMMs that you put in it, and I also understand that the tool you mentioned seemed to have a similar result between an 8 DIMMs configuration vs a 12 DIMMs configuration; however, please have in mind that when it comes to third-party tools we can’t validate or discuss their results since we are not the developers of them; therefore, we don’t know how these tools were configured and why are getting the results they are getting if you want to know more about why you got that result you are welcome to contact the support for that specific tool directly.

Additionally, we would like to understand more about the reason for your thread. Normally we do technical assistance related to our products here and from what I understand your system seems to be functioning correctly at least when it comes to the processors that you have. As long as the processors allow the system to recognize the correct amount of RAM and the amount of DIMMs being used I believe they are by themselves functioning properly.
