Did you consult with your system/motherboard or laptop manufacturer to determine if THEIR bios supports this new processor?

Format the operating system? No such thing. Do you mean reinstall a fresh copy of the OS? Which OS did you have?

hi thanks, yes I consulted the motherboard manufacturer and the new processor is supported.

do I need to install a fresh copy of the system?

I currently use windows 10

Again, does the motherboard manufacturer's bios support the new processor (meaning have you updated the bios PRIOR to installing the new processor)?

 

If you did consult with the motherboard manufacturer, and all is OK, then why are you asking Windows questions here?

Have you booted your existing boot disk? If so, did you have any problems?
