i have an Acer Extensa 5230e and i have upgraded the processor from a Intel 2.16/1m/667 to a intel duel core 2.20/4m/800 t7500

O/S windows 7 ultimate 32-bit

bios v1.29

graphics informatio mobile intel 4 seris express chipset family

2 physical cores

2 logical cores

when i start the laptop it boots up into a bios type screen v1.29

it detects 1 processor with 2 cores to a processor,

it reconises 2 of the 4 gig of ram installed

4096 kb l2 cache.

system and video bios shadowed

fixed disk 0 :wdc wd1600bevt - 22zcto

atapi cd rom

02f0 cpu id fb no microcode update loaded for alternative processor

it then says to continue press F1, once i do that windows boots up and all seems to run fine,

Ive run the Intel Processor Diagnosis tool and it stops scanning and fails at brand string, when i turn off the "stop testing on fail" the rest of the scan passes everything. under the CPU1 box on the bottom right i get the following script (ill post it all as i dont know what will be of interest.

We do not need all that information.

You need to ask ACER what processors are supported by THEIR bios. Then, you can select from those.

If you are having trouble with Windows 7, sorry, windows 7 is dead and there is no support here for obsolete/discontinued products.
