I use Premiere Pro CS6 and AE CS6 and possible Continuum Beauty Studio (to make actors look younger) to create videos. Nothing fancy.

How do I compare i3-4160 with NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX vs AMD Phenom ii (6 Core) 1055T with GTX 470 1280MB?

The AMD has 6 cores and 6 threads, but clocks at 2.8. the i3 only 2 cores and 4 threads, but clocks at 3.6 and rates faster in benchmarks.

So does it really make any difference? I have read that 4 cores are the peak for difference, which goes down rapidly after 2, but that clock speeds and threads make a difference too.

Anyone got any advice?

You are talking about nvida graphics products (9800 GTX, GTX 470). I would ask nvidia for a comparison. Or, you can use this link:

As far as comparing an Intel processor to an AMD processor, you will have to find such comparisons on some other site.

And, adobe provides this information: https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/system-requirements.html Adobe Premiere Pro System Requirements

All links are provided for your convenience.
