Hello xShad0w, thanks for contacting us through the Intel Communities.

I would like to inform you that the temperature you are getting is normal when using the system at full load. It could reach up to the 85c.

Some recommendations I can give you are the following:

  • Make sure there is enough air flow on the chassis.
  • Put additional thermal paste if needed.
  • To make sure the CPU is not overheating, you can test the system out of the chassis. Check if the temperature is the same or if it decrease.

If you want, you could also run the Intel® Processor Diagnostic Tool. http://www.intel.com/support/processors/sb/CS-031726.htm http://www.intel.com/support/processors/sb/CS-031726.htm

Hello there,
I also use the same cpu i5-3470.
I was gameing without realising that my cpu fan is dead. My processor went upto 105° and then it was throttleing. But my game was running smoothly. So i came to a conclusion that we can use a processor without the cpu fan while leaving the heatsink with the cpu, The cpu will perfectly work fine except the lower clock speed, Its nit recommended for daily uses but its can be done.

So 85° is nothing to care about, Maybe replacing the thermal paste helps you.

@Sagnikpandit   This is very bad advice.  Also, this is an 8-year old thread.
