Hi folks!
I'm about to buy an i5 9400, but i'm worry about the RAM. Intel says that i5 9400 can work with a DDR4 - 2666 memory. Does that mean it *only* works with that type of memory? Or could it work with a DDR4 - 2400 memory?
I'm basically a newcomer, so I would really apreciate a detailed, referenced answer.
Thank you!!

You are buying the i5-9400, presumably for your motherboard. Does your motherboard support the i5-9400 (with its BIOS), and does your motherboard support DDR4-2400?

Intel specs the highest clock speed that they validate (in this case, 2666 MHz). Lower speeds (2400 and 2133 MHz) are always supported and validated. Higher speeds (3000+ MHz) are not guaranteed but may also be supported, depending upon the quality of the motherboard in question and its BIOS support.
Hope this helps,
