hey everyone, currently running into an issue that no matter what state my pc is in, it is always staying at max clock values and there fore throwing my temps incredibly out of whack. Right after boot and having hwmonitor and one chrome tab open I am sitting at 67c, at 4% cpu utilization and 3600MHZ. as soon as I get into game it jumps to 100c, 4800 MHz and no more than 30% util.
So far I have:
enabled intel speedshift in bios
updated bios to most recent version
done a full wipe/install of windows
PC specs:
i710700k
Mobo: rog strix b560-a
Bios: 1601
Windows 10 21h2 build 19044.2130
GPU: MSI red dragon 6600xt
RAM: 32 gb Gskill 3600
PSU: EVGA 850 GA
please let me know if I can provide any more information to help trouble shooting and I appreciate any assistance in advance!

Hello PatchesOhoulihan,
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities. I am sorry to know that you are having issues with your Intel® Core™ i7-10700K Processor.
In order to better assist you, please provide the following:
1. Is this issue recent? When did it start?
2. Can you take a picture where you see that the processor is at max clock values?
3. Do you have any overclocking settings active in the BIOS?
4. Are you using the Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU)?
5. Have you reported this issue to Asus?

Hey Deivid,
This issue has been popping up for the past week, first time I noticed it was 10/7. Tried doing a bunch of digging online for answers to no avail. Only overclocking setting I have on is XMP, everything else is out of the box except for speedstep - not speedshift - is enabled (was told to try this via another outlet). I have XTU downloaded but have never opened it as I'm just frankly afraid of breaking something without some guidance. I have posted on ASUS's forum but have received no answers yet.
Please see picture, this is what happen when I go load into a game (Destiny 2 via steam)
Please let me know if I can provide any more information to help triage!

Hello PatchesOhoulihan,
Thanks for the information provided. In order to continue, please try the following:
1. Make sure that the Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (Intel® XMP) is running the RMA at 2933MHz.
2. As a test, load BIOS to default settings.
3. Make sure that you are running the latest BIOS version (1601).
4. Make sure that the cooling solution is properly installed.
5. If possible, try to replace the thermal paste.
Regards,
Deivid A.
