Hi,
I just bought and i7 11700k. I also have a z590 motherboard. I did not overcklock the cpu however every time I turn the pc on, the clock speed of the 8 cores of the cpu go up to 5000Mhz.
When I don't play the clock speed goes down to 800Mhz.
How do I prevent the cpu for doing this? I want to have the cpu clock speed locked to 3700Mhz. Also I want to be 3700Mhz in every situation. Why did the cpu went to 5000Mhz right out of the box without me overclocking it?
Someone pls help me. Thanks

This is most likely caused by (the benefit of) Intel Turbo Boost. If you truly want to cripple the performance of the processor, then go into BIOS Setup and disable the Intel Turbo Boost feature.

I recently received a precision 5530 for work and as my wireless is very slow, I bought a usb c Ethernet adapter. Most wired connections in my house sit between 80-120 mbps, but on this computer it was getting 1-3 earlier and is now getting 7ish mpbs. I tested the adapter and cable with my personal computer (which has a type C port, not thunderbolt 3) and it got 110 mbps.
I was under the impression thunderbolt 3 was compatible with type C adapters. Is that not the case?
Any ideas on what could be causing it?
