i7 13700k - all resource extensive apps started crashing suddenly

Hello Intel Support,

I've bought my i7 13700k in April 2023 together with new MB, RAM, PSU and it had been running perfectly well up until the last week.

I do not experience any issues in general performance, when just browsing the internet / watching videos etc. However all of my games have started to crash shortly after launching.

I first experienced this with Dota2, now even DCS - both games won't even start or drop after the initial loading screen without any error message.

I haven't made any changes to my setup neither from hardware - at all  / nor software perspective - just updates for Windows and the apps, I can't find any reason for this change in performance.

I have tried the stress test from Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility and after 2 minutes this resulted into BSOD and system restart.

I have updated any drivers I could find, checked the temperatures, which are in expected range. I have disabled XMP for memory, nothing is overclocked - never was.

Any help would be appreciated, I don't know what else to try and it is really frustrating.

Attached the report from the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool and Log from the Stress test up until the crash.

Thank you!

best regards,

Jan

my setup:

Z790 AORUS ELITE AX

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090

Kingston DDR5 64GB

This might be related to the instability issue. Try updating the bios and follow the intel default settings. If the issue is the same, this might be defective.

hi, thanks for suggestion - well I have the latest Bios and all the drivers, with default settings already. Still the applications are instable - unusable, besides web browsing I can't do much else.

Restore bios defaults, turn off Intel defaults, and then apply these settings as shown here: community.intel.com/t5/Processors/Solution-for-Intel-CPU-Stability-Issues-Lower-Temps-amp-Better/m-p/1618758#M75204
