Hello
My issue is that im only getting 4700 mhz under heavy load. When idle then it showing 5500 mhz.
Motherboard im using is msi ace z790 with latest bios. I tryed with every setting possible. Right now im using the defaults that possible. What im missing?
i wouldnt investigate it but i get less fps in games than i should. Benchmarks showing me that im underperforming. How to fix the issues with my cpu or is this normal?

Hi Annonex,
Thank you for patiently waiting.
We respect the community of overclocking and provide several excellent features that improve their capacity to raise CPU frequency and performance. However, we want to be clear that there is always some risk involved, even as we collaborate with the community to push the limits of what is feasible for those who desire more performance.
For individuals who choose to use the platform tools outside of Intel's verified and guaranteed configuration, Intel makes sure they are available and functional.
CPU Overclocking disclaimer: Warning: Altering clock frequency and/or voltage may (1) reduce system stability and useful life of the system and processor; (2) cause the processor and other system components to fail; (3) cause reductions in system performance; (4) cause additional heat or other damage; and (5) affect system data integrity. Intel has not tested, and does not warranty, the operation of the processor beyond its specifications.•
Memory Overclocking disclaimer: Warning: Altering PC memory frequency and/or voltage may (1) reduce system stability and use life of the system, memory and processor; (2) cause the processor and other system components to fail; (3) cause reductions in system performance; (4) cause additional heat or other damage; and (5) affect system data integrity. Intel assumes no responsibility that the memory, included if used with altered clock frequencies and/or voltages, will be fit for any particular purpose. Check with memory manufacturer for warranty and additional details.
Can you clarify some information that you provided to us:
- Do you encounter any particular error message when you attempt to open XTU when XMP or IEXPO is enabled?
- Can you provide the link where you comparing the benchmark scores of your processor?
Best regards,

Hi Annonex,
Thank you for posting in the communities!
Please supply the information requested below so that we can better assist you and identify the best course of action:
- Can you provide us with a screenshot of the comparison of your Benchmarking with others?
- What Benchmarking application are you using?
- May I know if your already using Intel Default settings on your BIOS?
Kindly run this on your system so that I can also gauge the following peripherals and the driver versions that you have:
Intel® System Support Utility for Windows*
Once finished downloading, open the tool, click on scan (leave the default items checked), click next, then save the system information to a .txt file. Please provide us the .txt file.
Best regards,
Earl E.

Here u go Earl.
however i was managed to get 5500 mhz after enabling default bios settings and enabling Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility optimization feature. But failed to open Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility after enabling xmp or iexpo on bios.
But Making different tests and looking around this community i found that OCCT was not supported way to test overclock - so i might misunderstood everything.
So theres many questions remains, like why i cant have normal clock and xmp same time. Maybe i get extra feedback for that data so i could analyze further the "feature".

Hi Earl,
I looked trough your solution. However i didn't encounter any errors. I haven't alter the volts purposely to give more boost and the issue was that i had 4.7ghz in 1.14v. I wanted to get more than 4.7 and 5ghz would been nice - wanted to know if it was a issue.
Now i can get 5ghz easily after using Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility recommended settings. However my question was still why enabling xmp would not give me access to Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility program. Now i have ignored it. XMP is enabled and for some miracle, the assumed boost clock that processor promises 5.4ghz is reached. However with the default volts. System has no instability issues and the programs(read: games) i ran before runs better.

Hello, Annonex.
Thank you for the update and for providing detailed information. I'm glad to hear that you've managed to reach 5GHz easily using the Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility recommended settings and that your system is stable with improved performance in your programs and games. Since you're now seeing the desired boost clock of 5.4GHz with no instability, it seems like the system is functioning well.
In the meantime, I will keep this thread open to monitor the issue.
Best regards,
Von M.
