i7-6700K and 1000Mhz lag

Why can't my pc handle 1000mhz polling rate? I've been reading around and more people with i7-6700K have been having this issue with no fixes. It's a powerful and EXPENSIVE cpu that i thought could handle anything but it can't handle 1000mhz polling rate better than an FX-8350? That literally makes no sense, I have to drop my DPI to 125Mhz, which is horrid, to stop the framerate drop in all my games when I move my mouse using 1000Mhz polling rate. This has gone on since i upgraded my rig from an FX-8350 Ma99x evo R2.0 to a Z170-a with a i7-6700K. I was wondering if you guys could help me figure this out. My mouse is a g502 proteus and the drivers are up to date. It also kicks up my cpu usage to almost 40% when I have 1000mhz polling which lags even the videos I'm watching and the browser page loading.

Hi Croickey ,

I think it is 1000 Hz pooling rate, and thats more like a mouse driver or mainboard bios problem. I have also a mouse with 1000Hz polling rate (Razer Abyssus 3.5G), and when I activate 1000Hz randomly when I start pc mouse is not working. But I never have FPS problems in games. I also tested a cheaper 1000Hz pooling rate mouse and surprise that mouse was working fine.

My PC is also with i7 6700k, but with Asrock z170 Extreme 7 mainboard.

If you don't have a videocard, and you run your pc on igpu I suggest to install one of the latest drivers:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26404/Intel-Graphics-Driver-15-45-?product=80939 Download Intel® Graphics Driver [15.45]

or

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26347/Intel-Beta-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-and-Windows-7-8-1-15-40-?product=80939 Download Intel® Beta Graphics Driver for Windows® 10 and Windows 7*/8.1* [15.40]

Also if you have windows 10, I read that it maybe a problem with some 1000Hz mice.

I googled a bit about that mouse and FPS drop and it seems that g502 has a driver problem and uses to many resources, I think because bad optimized driver. You can try with windows default driver and see how it behaves.

Hello:

Thank you very much to Ronin for the comments posted previously.

To Croickey:

I just wanted to confirm the previous information as correct, the reason why the mouse is not working at 1000mhz polling rate seems to be related to the driver that belongs to it.

In regard to the FPS drop on games, the best thing to do will be to install the driver provided above, it is version 4542, it is a new released, or you can try the Beta driver as well.

There is also another graphics driver for the board that you can find on the following link, look for VGA:

http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z170%20Extreme7+/?cat=Download&os=Win1064 http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z170%20Extreme7+/?cat=Download&os=Win1064

A BIOS update to the latest version is recommended also.

Any questions, please let me know.

Alberto that driver you gave link is from Asrock (that's my mainboard and is a very old driver which I don't recommend, as it doesn't have all the fixes the last intel driver has) and he has Asus Z170-A.

To Croickey:

Let me apologize if I gave you the wrong link, on the following link you will find the drivers for your board, you can try the latest graphics driver, it was released on August 2016:

I have a GTX 1070 so it shouldn't be a problem to run games (sorry for not responding in such a long time) but it seems that my graphics card is really being dragged down by this, and that's not right, I've uninstalled logitech gaming software and reinstalled it but the problem still remains, I hope I don't need to buy a new mouse because it worked perfectly fine with my old setup

Hi Croickey ,

This problem is mouse or mainboard related, so I think you should do a mainboard bios update, and update the mouse driver from here http://support.logitech.com/en_us/product/g502-proteus-core-tunable-gaming-mouse# download G502 - Logitech Support, also there is a firmware update for the mouse on that page.

On that mainboard you have another controller that is not skylake related, Is an Asmedia usb 3.1, look for that connector in manual and connect mouse on that port.

If this doesn't work then report it to logitech, it maybe possible that the driver is not well optimized for skylake systems.

All right thank you Ronin for your help, my bios has had the latest update for a while, but the mouse doesn't have a driver download but a Logitech Gaming software download which I already have, I don't think there are any mouse firmware updates due to mine being a little older but I guess I could uninstall my current one and install this one

Hello:

Once again thank you very much to Ronin for the comments posted previously, that information will be very helpful for all the peers viewing the thread.

To Croickey:

At this point that will be the best thing to do, to try to un-install and re-install the driver that belong to the mouse, also, since the problem could be related to the BIOS as well and since the BIOS version on your PC is up to date, to get in contact with ASUS will be another option to try just to check if they have a possible fix for this specific problem.

ASUS support site: https://www.asus.com/us/support/ https://www.asus.com/us/support/

ASUS phone number: 812-282-2787

In regard to the problem with the FPS on the games, did you install the drivers above?

If you use a different mouse, is the problem the same?

Any questions, please let me know.
