Hey guys
Have a i7-6700k
H100i GTX AIO cooler
ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming Motherboard
16gb Corsair Ram
Gigabyte GTX G1 980ti
My Temps at idle are about 23-29c
But if i do anything, i mean even open up a browser the temp will spike to about 70-80c for a sec and then instantly cool back down to idle temps.
If i run a stress test the temps will max out at 81c and then instantly as i stop the stress test the temps go back to idle.
This is playing havoc with my fans as they will ramp up everytime i click something with the mouse
I have checked and replied thermal compound. Are the temps reading wrong
Any help would be great thanks
Anthony

Thank you for the report.
According to it, everything seems fine with your processor, maybe you could try setting the default settings in the BIOS and see what happens.

Amy
Thanks
I have attached an image that shows what i mean, the temp will spike 10-20c on the slightest of cpu usage. i have used a temp sensor and sat it on the side of the CPU heat spreader and i got a constant 27c on idle and 44c on load. but the readings from the CPU sensor dont reflect this.
This image is just me doing basic web browsing no video or gaming and the temp will not stabilize

This behavior is normal. As long as the case temperature stays under 64°C it is OK, see here for the TCASE specification http://ark.intel.com/products/88195/Intel-Core-i7-6700K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_20-GHz Intel® Core™ i7-6700K Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.20 GHz) Specifications.
