i7 7820x TBMT 3.0 Driver missing after BIOS upgrade

I have an Asus RoG Strix x299 E-Gaming motherboard that I recently updated the BIOS firmware to the most recent. After doing so my TBMT control panel no longer loads and gives me a driver error.

I guess I'm curious if that matters, will my processor still boost up to 4.5 without the software itself running? (says 4.5 with TBMT 3.0).

If not what can I do to fix the driver missing issue so TBMT 3.0 can work like normal again? I have the most up to date chipset driver as well.

Hello RumSpringaHQ

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

Could you please provide the following information to check this further?

1- Screenshot showing the error message.

2- Did you download the Intel(R) Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 Driver or Software from ASUS* website or did it come pre-installed?

3- Run the Intel® Processor Identification Utility, expand the section "Processor Frequency" and attach a screenshot.

4- DxDiag* report following these steps:

  • In the keyboard, press WinLogo key + R.
  • In the Run box please type dxdiag and hit Enter.
  • Click on Save All Information.
  • Open the report.
  • Use the option "save all information" to save the .TXT file.
  • Attach the report .TXT file to this thread.

Yes sorry for the delay, this is still an issue.

So this is the program - http://prntscr.com/utmt2c

This is the error upon loading - http://prntscr.com/utmtra

This is the processor identification frequency info section - http://prntscr.com/utmubm

The dxdiag report is attached, I'm running windows 10 2004.

There is no Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 driver listed in program's, only the control panel - http://prntscr.com/utmyiq

Hello RumSpringaHQ

We are checking this thread and we would like to know if you need further assistance.

It is worth mentioning that Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 driver is now native in Windows* 10, meaning that Intel® is no longer providing it since it is included in latest Windows® 10 x64 – RS5 Edition or later.

We recommend making sure you load BIOS defaults and then confirm that Intel® Turbo Boost is enabled in the BIOS.

If you uninstall the driver or the software you should not have any issue with the good performance of the Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0.

Also, just in case, here are the instructions for uninstalling the software:

  1. From Windows® Apps & Features try uninstalling the Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 3.0 software.
  2. Also, from Windows® Device Manager under System Devices look for Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 driver, right-click and then click on Properties.
  3. Go to the driver tab and click uninstall.
  4. Make sure to select the option to Delete the driver software for this device.
  5. Reboot and let Windows install the latest driver automatically

If you want to have software to manually change the Intel® Turbo Boost Technology 3.0 features, frequencies, boost, etc, we recommend checking this with your computer/motherboard manufacturer (OEM) ASUS* since we do no longer support the software.

Hello RumSpringaHQ

Thank you for your response.

In this case, the Windows® version running on your system (2004) has native support for Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 and there is no need to install any software (or driver) to get this technology running on the system. The operating system (OS) knows this feature of the processor and loads the native support as needed by taking advantage of power and thermal headroom.

The report from the Intel® Processor Identification Utility shows that the Turbo Boost feature is working since your processor is going above the Processor Base Frequency (3.60 GHz). Also, running a tool like Intel® Extreme Tuning Utility (Intel® XTU) can monitor the processor's Intel® Turbo Boost Max 3.0 frequency. >> https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29183/Intel-Extreme-Tuning-Utility-Intel-XTU-

Since Intel® is no longer providing the Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 sotware you may try to unisntall it from Windows® Apps & Features (or from Control Panel >> Programs and Features) following the steps provided in our previous post.

If you want to continue using the Intel TBMT 3.0 Control Panel we recommend checking this with ASUS* support since we do no longer support the software.
