Good Morning All,
I have recently purchased a i7-7820x processor and a X299 Gaming M7 ACK motherboard for my new rig. Upon further research (which I should have done more of to begin with). I found out that the i7-8086k has about a 4% increase on the bench mark for gaming. I'm not sure if its worth tearing my computer apart so I can take the processor and motherboard back to exchange is or if its not even worth it. I know the 7820 runs at a higher wattage so I'm hoping that is not an issue as well. My pc gaming the other day was running around 48-55c. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You can compare the two processors here:

Before you do anything, make sure the i7-8086k is supported by the motherboard bios, and is socket compatible.
