hello, i have a question about cpu sockets
i currently have an Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU B830 @ 1.80GHz 1.80 GHz in my laptop, and i want to upgrade it to Intel I7-2640M 2.8Ghz so i dont know if its compatible with my motherboard.

The answer is maybe. It all depends on:
1) are both processors PGA988 socketed
2) and if the laptop bios supports the I7-2640M. Only the laptop manufacture can tell you that.

Personally, it is my opinion that such an upgrade is worthless.
It would be far, far betteer to invest an a new or used laptop that has an 8th gen or later processor.
