mouse sensitivity issue in gaming

i have a Z790 Aorus Elite ax ice motherboard revision 1.0

i had a previous thread opened about heating issue then turning into gaming issue

currently i am not having heat issue as i have set my pl1=pl2=40watt

after the previous thread closed i reinstalled windows like refresh from advance startup using clou d files. Hoping it would have fix my issues. after turning off nvidia overlay and steam overlay problems were  minimized but i could still feel mouse acceleration.(very bad mouse movement)

enhanced pointer precision is turned off and other settings are same as previous thread.

currently my bios settings is using intel default profile.

i found a intel folder later sometimes on C drive with logs another folder inside and a notepad format file with name HIDEVENTFILTER

and the time of the file was same as when i refreshed mypc.

for some reason i cant upload the log file its giving me this following error:-

"

Correct the highlighted errors and try again.

  • The attachment's hideventfilter.log content type (application/octet-stream) does not match its file extension and has been removed.

"

thanks

Hello ashish_singh,

Thank you for posting in the community. To better assist you with this issue, I need some additional information. Could you please answer the following questions:

  1. What is the exact model of your processor?
  2. Can you provide more details about the mouse acceleration you're experiencing?
  3. Is your BIOS updated to the latest version, specifically version F6c?
  4. Have you tried lowering your mouse's DPI? If so, what is the current DPI setting?
  5. What is the current polling rate of your mouse?
  6. How is your mouse currently connected—via 2.4GHz wireless, wired, or Bluetooth?
  7. Have you tried using the mouse in wired mode, or tested a different mouse to see if the issue persists?

Hallo intel support

my processor is an intel 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700KF 3.42 GHz

the mouse acceleration experience i am having is mouse moving fast from one point to another fixed point. like in game u have to look behind or u have to look extreme left or right  holding places, u have to move mouse like u can feel the crosshair is actually moving between these two points, but in my case the acceleration is the crosshair is moving much faster between points as not readable to sense of depth in motion like yeah i see the crosshair actually moving between these two points, its too fast even having 240hz screen.  in general mouse moving fast .

yeah my bios is currently F6c since the day its came out

i havent lowered my dpi like permanent i have tested on higher dpi then lowering sensitivity to match my original edpi settings like, i play on 400 dpi 2.50 sensitivity in game. i changed 800 dpi 1.25 sensitivity in game. and same with 1600 and 3200 dpi, while they seem like they are kind of better option then 400 dpi but they also have this issue, did the same thing with my other mouse with and without mouse software . i havent gone lower than 400 dpi not even testing. currently on 400 and 2.5 for browsing, gaming everywhere on screen.

my mouse polling rate is 1000hz never changed it , tested 500hz the issue is persistent with polling rate changes so reverted back to 1000hz .

the both mouse i have tested are wired razer viper mini and hyperx pulsefire surge(currently in use). i had a previous msi motherboard where these both mouse had no issue with and without mouse software. rear usb ports(3.2) are used for connecting mouse.

yeah i have used razer viper mini(wired) my other mouse for testing issue and it also does the same mouse issue as hyperx one. both these mouse are the same mouse used in my previous motherboard without any problem.

thanks

Hello ashish_singh,

Would it be possible to test with a different processor or motherboard that are compatible with each other? This would help us isolate which of the two components is causing the issue. You mentioned that the previous motherboard did not have this problem, whereas the current one does. Can I also assume that you are using the same CPU as you did with the previous motherboard?

yeah about my previous motherboard it was a ddr4 msi motherboard with same processor i am using on my aorus ddr5 motherboard,

my previous motherboard was showing mouse sensi issue as soon as i would join a online match, on  offline matches it performed good, hence it would narrow it down to NIC issue, internet issue, everything related to internet etc, where i opened the forum and provide the details and they blamed msi for not providing any firmware upgrade , so i thought it would be an msi issue, but as soon i get this new aorus motherboard the issue was not about online matches and offline matches, the mouse sensi in general is not accurate so its hard for me to narrow down the issue, and the answer about having other components to isolate the issue , No i dont have other processor or other motherboard to test individually the parts which is causing it,

yes u can assume i had this cpu with the msi motherboard, while i should say their was heating issue since day 1 i got msi motherboard i was unaware of using a setting in bios called msi cpu lite load , which was set to 12 by default and i changed it to 2 or 3 ,  but later using 40 watt on aorus motherboard i can confirm the cpu lite load was doing the same temperature reduction thing on msi as same as on aorus.

i had multiple times refreshed the msi pc but not remember any intel folder on C drive providing any logs. this time i did a refresh 1st time on my aorus motherboard i got this hideventfilter log files i want to upload. kindly let me know what happened wrong with this situation that a log file is automatically available on C drive with same timing as i refreshed my pc.

i tried uploading the file second time and its giving me the same error so i am doing a google drive upload.

file link  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1o5OqKZNViJWYgs_jFkSHvBnPQ-XRxVMa/view?usp=sharing

kindly let me know if u have any trouble accessing viewing the file.

Hello ashish_singh,

I would like to clarify something based on your previous responses. Initially, you mentioned that your Razer Viper Mini and HyperX Pulsefire Surge were working fine with your MSI motherboard. However, in your most recent response, you indicated that your MSI motherboard is experiencing the same issue as your Gigabyte motherboard. This seems somewhat contradictory. Could you please provide clarification on this? Additionally, do you recall the full make and model of your MSI motherboard?

Also, thank you sharing this file to I will take note of this and added this on my notes.

Hallo intel support.
Ok what i said is on my msi motherboard both mouse had perfect mouse movement in offline game matches(maps) and like practise matches(with bots on server or empty map)/training rooms etc. Where the mouse performed with perfect crosshair movement crosshair placement. But as soon as i would join match online like casual game mode in cs2 , control match in apex legends, or team deathmatch in valorant. All games tested would give bad mouse movement.
That was the whole issue on msi motherboard with model pro z690-A wifi ddr4.
With each bios update on msi motherboard mouse movement would go horrible in online matches .i bought the msi motherboard on may(month) and on december bios update their was vast difference in how bad it is in online matches while it was same and perfect on offline matches. So your question was both mouse were working fine with my msi motherboard, Yes they were working fine on msi motherboard in offline matches, if they work fine on offline matches the sensor is good they are good.
Now with gigabyte motherboard the mouse issue is bugged in general. It doesnt shift like msi one like perfect one time and other time its bad, its a different type of issue it keeps its inaccuracy throughout the session(like starting pc to shutdown). With mouse sofware its much worse, and without using software in background its not accurate either. I could simply say its unable to aim with such movement in any scenario any setting .
I can go on much like i can type much more about this situation but ultimately game is unplayable on this motherboard and were unplayable on msi motherboard. Any specific thing u like to know about both motherboard i will recall and tell u .
By online matches above i meant is like where their are real players on server joining a game and they have ping.
Thanks

Hello ashish_singh,

It seems you're experiencing mouse issues during online gaming. Could you let me know if this problem only occurs when you're playing online with others? If not, does it also happen when you're simply browsing or idle on your desktop?

If the issue is exclusive to in-game situations, could you share your average ping while playing these online games? Additionally, are you connected via a LAN cable or using Wi-Fi during gameplay? Lastly, could you provide the model of your wireless adapter as listed in your device manager?

Lastly, if possible could I request a video clip of when you are playing the game both offline and online.

hallo intel support

the problem is much more visible / experienced in gaming compared to browsing. During browsing its also not accurate the more u move mouse quickly between tabs and trying to point mouse at small things small icons etc .

i always used the ethernet connection for the gaming . i have got repeated packet loss from the wifi on this board which i tested like months ago. i am providing wifi adapter name from device manager through screen shot uploaded

i have recorded the game through obs studio using 60000 kbps bitrate if the quality gets compressed during upload on google drive i can do other platform upload as per u suggest, the original raw file i have recorded is of 4.04gb kindly let me know for quality purpose u want me to reupload that file.

i would suggest u to download the file separately instead of playing it on google drive online player u will get the uncompressed version without any pixelation.

Hello ashish_singh,

Thank you for your effort and cooperation. After reviewing the video you provided, I noticed that you are using a 3060TI graphics card and your Wi-Fi driver version is 23.100.0.4. Based on my observations of your gameplay in Counter Strike, well I have share of experience in playing first person shooting specifically Valorant. It seems that the issue could be related to the game's recoil mechanics, especially when moving while shooting, which can increase recoil instability.

However, if you feel that your movements are not as responsive as they should be, it might be due to input lag. To address potential input lag, you can try the following steps outlined in this guide on fixing input lag. Although you might have already tried some of these solutions, it could be beneficial to revisit them and test again.

Hallo intel support,

thank you for providing your indepth knowledge about recoil mechanics.

however the driver version and things going on with what i experience as in game issue,  can i get more indepth information about in terms that i can understand , what is happening with HID event filter thing, their haven't been any comments made so far or made assurance to fix those issue either by u or gigabyte , can i get the hardware working fine first before starting the game. i wouldn't jump that far into recoil mechanics. and the mouse software causing issue on this board which haven't seen on msi board is also unanswered. i think i have given info pretty much u have asked for but i still dont have slightest of idea of what ongoing with this board and the particular 13th gen chip issue. Kindly provide some more insight to those issue.

the previous mod asked me for narrow downing the issue and now when i found something like logs and driver version not matching. i dont know what is ur protocol of fixing things. this consumer forum so far has been one sided u questioning things and not openly talking about things , or the logs which are far from me to understand.

i am awaiting some definite technicality answers from u , which i can understand in simpler terms.

thanks.

Hello ashish_singh,

Thank you for your prompt response. I appreciate your effort and cooperation in addressing my questions and clarifications. Based on the video you provided, I couldn't identify any acceleration that matches the description you mentioned in the thread. The mouse and crosshair movements appear consistent when playing offline. The noticeable difference occurs when firing at an enemy, where the crosshair seems to move or accelerate. This is actually due to the game's recoil mechanics, which simulate the real-life recoil of firearms.

Regarding the hardware aspect of your system, it appears that your processor is functioning as expected since you are not experiencing any issues aside from the mouse sensitivity concern. This indicates that the hardware is operating correctly. However, if you encounter problems such as the system automatically rebooting, games and applications crashing randomly, or experiencing slowdowns even when the system is idle, it may indicate a hardware issue that needs further investigation.

As for the HID event filter this concerns is related to your bios and operating system. In which it is outside my scope as the bios is part of your motherboard, and it is best to contact your motherboard manufacturer

I understand your frustration regarding this matter, but there doesn't seem to be an issue with your mouse acceleration, even when using the mouse software. The speed at which you flick your mouse remains constant. The sensation you are experiencing might be related to input lag, which is the delay between a user's action and the on-screen response. I will check this further in my end and will update you on my findings as soon as possible.

Hallo intel support

after disabling intel wifi  from device manager my mouse sensi issue is minimized . Now i am 100% sure something has to do with intel wifi , as disabling intel bluetooth makes the mouse sensi worst. so i kept the intel bluetooth enabled. kindly check the situation from your end , u can replicate the problem easily and confirm the issue and dont recommend me using intel drivers i am not gonna install intel drivers i have got experience of using intel drivers. thankfully gigabyte has also released a rev1.1 for this motherboard which comes with realtek wifi and bluetooth. if u guys can confirm ur own wifi issue i can get the 1.1 rev motherboard through RMA etc. and get over this motherboard. Attaching screenshot of my device manager for the setting i am using. the intel wifi disabled made it much better but not accurate.

thanks

Hello ashish_singh,

found your discovery quite intriguing. However, I have some concerns regarding the setup used in the video you provided. It appears that a LAN connection was used instead of a wireless one, which effectively eliminates network lag since the PC is directly connected to the router via a LAN cable.

My main curiosity lies in the part where you disable Bluetooth. Given that your mouse is wired and cannot connect via Bluetooth, this aspect doesn't seem to align with the description provided. Could you please clarify this for me?

hallo intel support,

yes u are right let me fill the information for u

what i tried last night was disabling intel bluetooth and intel wifi from device manager to see if does anything  but i tried it today also with some changes.

the thing affecting my game and its relation with intel bluetooth and wifi.

step-1> restart ur computer or power it on (this is a only one time thing which i found to be working)

step-2> launch counter strike 2 and jump into practice match

step-3>alt+tab mid game and open device manager disable the bluetooth and wifi both(to be sure i disabled both)

after this step u enter the game and will notice that whatever changes happened has not fixed the issue. so i quit the game and returned to windows screen

step-4>now u enable both bluetooth and wifi from device manager and relaunch the game cs2

step-5> enter into practice match u will definitely see difference in crosshair movement

kindly refer to the video i am sharing through google drive and download it separately to see clarity of crosshair movement. Dont use the google drive online player.

the comparison made here is at 1:30 and 03:24  in the video

video link

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eSgX_rX-wzgdtiRxkAIY9FdBUqNd8MG6/view?usp=sharing

this thing only work like after restart and not like u have to do repeatedly i am still monitoring if the bad crosshair movement comes back.

so far its better like i said in last post but inaccurate

thanks

Hello ashish_singh,

Thank you for your patience. I have a few recommendations for you to try, starting with your drivers. Please ensure that the following drivers are up to date according to your motherboard manufacturer's versions:

Motherboard download link: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z790-AORUS-ELITE-AX-ICE/support#support-dl-driver-chipset

  1. Intel Management Engine Firmware - version 2331.5.20.0
  2. Intel Serial I/O driver - version 30.100.2237.26
  3. Intel HID Event Filter - version 2.2.2.5
  4. Intel Chipset Device Software - version 10.1.19502.8391
  5. Intel® GNA Scoring Accelerator - version 03.00.00.1457
  6. Intel® Dynamic Tuning Technology (APO) Driver - version 9.0.11405.42569

If these drivers are up to date, please check if your mouse has any firmware or driver updates necessary for your model. Additionally, ensure your operating system is updated accordingly.

hallo intel support

i had the first 4 drivers listed by you downloaded already during fresh install i did before and still running on those drivers , idk how to match the version of intel HID event filter . these drivers downloaded from same site u have mentioned in the post.

i have enabled GNA and DTT from bios and did the download now as per ur recommendation. doesnt make a difference in my games after the installation.

next my query is about windows 11,version 24H2 which i haven't installed because of issues posted by people online especially in some games. So for confirmation do u want me to install that update on my current windows. Kindly do the confirmation as i have not installed it during writing.

i have checked my mouse website and mouse software and mouse software patch notes . they haven't released any firmware update for the mouse i am using currently.

thanks

Hello ashish_singh,

Thank you for trying my recommendation. I want to clarify the role of the HID Event Filter driver. This driver enables the system BIOS to communicate Intel HID messages and button events to the operating system in response to various key presses.

Upon reviewing the logs you provided, I did not find any error messages. However, we should consider the possibility of input lag. Input lag can be influenced by your specific hardware and software setup, and it can occur in both offline, single-player settings and multiplayer environments. It's important to distinguish this from network lag and other connectivity issues that gamers frequently encounter online.

Since you've followed my recommendation, this will help us determine if the input lag is originating from the system. We can then focus on the remaining items discussed in the article: How to Fix Input Lag. Before I proceed with further investigation, could you please provide the following information:

  • Are you connected to your monitor via HDMI or DisplayPort?
  • What is the version of your HDMI or DisplayPort cable?
  • Have you tried using your Hyper X mouse on another system to check if the input lag persists?
  • Can you confirm if you have adjusted the frame rate settings to test for input lag in both increased and decreased scenarios?

To address the issue related to the OS update, I recommend updating your OS to isolate the issue. Before proceeding, please create a restore point. This will allow you to revert to version 23H2 if needed.

Hallo intel support,

my monitor is connected through dp cable came along with the package .

my monitor is a benq xl2546k model i think the cable i got is a 1.2 version dp cable i am not sure but people on internet say thats what benq people ship their monitor with. if u have any method to check my dp cable version kindly send me the link

another system to check my mouse for input lag , the answer is no . i dont have any other system.

yeah i have adjusted the frame rate by ingame console command and capped the frame rate at 230 fps i played 1 deathmatch but i cant say anything better about it . currently on uncapped like unlimited fps settings. downloaded nvidia frame view app for latency on screen . sending u screenshot for both scenarios.

ok i will create a restore point idk how to create it and update my OS after this message.
