Hi,

I have two identical PCs each with i9-7920X CPU and TUF X299 MARK 2 motherboard. Although BIOS settings are default CPU cores on the second PC show a bit higher temperature than on the first PC. The difference around 5 degree C. The output of i7z utility is below.

First PC:

Cpu speed from cpuinfo 3024.00Mhz

cpuinfo might be wrong if cpufreq is enabled. To guess correctly try estimating via tsc

Linux's inbuilt cpu_khz code emulated now

True Frequency (without accounting Turbo) 3025 MHz

CPU Multiplier 29x || Bus clock frequency (BCLK) 104.31 MHz

Socket [0] - [physical cores=12, logical cores=12, max online cores ever=12]

TURBO ENABLED on 12 Cores, Hyper Threading OFF

Max Frequency without considering Turbo 3129.31 MHz (104.31 x [30])

Max TURBO Multiplier (if Enabled) with 1/2/3/4/5/6 Cores is 44x/44x/44x/44x/44x/44x

Real Current Frequency 4581.92 MHz [104.31 x 43.93] (Max of below)

Core [core-id] :Actual Freq (Mult.) C0% Halt(C1)% C3 % C6 % Temp VCore

Core 1 [0]: 4477.79 (42.93x) 100 0 0 0 52 1.2317

Core 2 [1]: 4477.79 (42.93x) 100 0 0 0 52 1.2188

Core 9 [8]: 4477.79 (42.93x) 100 0 0 0 61 1.2617

Core 12 [11]: 4479.19 (42.94x) 100 0 0 0 61 1.2551

In the first case average temperature is 55C and 60.5C for the second. What could cause the difference? Is it BIOS/motherboard issue or that temperature variation is normal?

thanks,

Dmitry

There are all sorts of things that can have an affect on this variation: differences in TIM applied, differences in fan speed control programming for processor, differences in response of processor cooling fan/blower/pump, differences in internal and external ambient temperature, differences in fan speed control programming for chassis, differences in response of chassis fans, differences in effectiveness of processor cooling solution. I could go on, but I think you get the message...

Understood. I have impression than VCore is bit higher for second cpu. Can temperature mode affect VCore?

thanks,

Dmitry

VCore can affect temperature, but temperature mode cannot affect VCore.
