I have Quartus II Web Edition installed on Ubuntu 8.04

EVERY time I start the program, it asks me for the location for the licence!!

The licence works fine so why does it ask me every time I open the program?

I have set the privileges on the folder from root to user but that didn't help

Did you set up the path to the licence file under Tools/License Setup?

I believe that only full version (not web version) was allowed on Linux platforms. I have Quartus II 9.0 (full edition) running on Ununtu 9.04. I simply point to the license location in Tools -> License setup -> License File.

Oops, it is the FULL edition. I have a 6 month student licence.

I am going to try and do a re-install and see if that fixes the problem

The licence works fine. Everytime I start Quartus, it asks me for a licence.

I select; "If you have valid licence, specify the location......"

and the file path IS already sepcified!

looks like the license file location is stored in ~/.altera.quartus/quartus2.ini. try taking a look at whether this gets written, maybe there are some permissions issues.

I cannot find that file

The ENTIRE installation folder has read/write permissions for the user
