DE2 Media Computer Custom Parallel Ports

Hi everyone!

I'm an senior in Electrical Engineering currently leveraging the DE2 Media Computer for a project design team. We currently have working VGA output and grabbing music data from the line in.

We have 8 sensors as well that will communicate with our board via the expansion parallel ports.

Since we have a customized sort of parallel port interface, how do I go about setting up the parallel port on the media computer. Do I need to customize the DE2 media computer in Quartus (SOPC)? or should the expansion ports already be set up on the media computer to use functions such as alt_up_parallel_port_read_data() and alt_up_parallel_port_read_interrupt_pending(). Do these expansion ports have names? If we don't need to use all pins on the expansion ports, does this change things?

I have a good feel for what needs to be done- just a little confused as to how to interface on the expansion parallel ports. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!
