I am trying to identify some EPM7128SLC84 devices as either genuine or counterfeit. As you may know, chips are often relabeled with newer date codes and faster speed grades and sold as new.
I am looking at the date codes on these devices and the date code decoder information on Intel/Altera’s website here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/programmable/support/quality-and-reliability/decoder.html.
In order to better understand the authenticity of the chips, I am wondering:
What was the final week and year that the EPM7128SLC84 device was produced?
What “fab process identifiers” are printed on EPM7128SLC84 chips?
What “final test location” identifiers are printed on EPM7128SLC84 chips?
What “base die identifiers” and “die revision levels” are printed on EPM7128SLC84 chips?
Can the die revision be read using JTAG?
What “fab process codes” are printed on EPM7128SLC84 chips?
I have also encountered chips with a different date code format. “BFD329931” is an example. How do I decode these? When was this date code format withdrawn from use?
As well, some EPM7128SLC84 ICs I have have markings on the bottom of the chip. Can you say anything about these so I can check their consistency with the markings on the top?
