Hello Altera Forum,

I am somewhat at a lost after looking in this problem of Quartus 14.1. I have tried looking for a solution but came up empty handed sadly.

My Quartus Web edition keep giving me [Error (293007): Current module quartus_asm ended unexpectedly] with no reason what so ever. It started a few days ago and it's very odd since the day before the project was compiling perfectly. Even older project are now subject to this error. It has to do with Quartus itself but I am confused as what the origin is. The fitter work fine. Just the assembler part crash like wild. Even the Altera website says to contact them regarding this particular error message, unfortunately, their hotline is now close (someone should remove the number all together).

I have tried reinstalling the software but problem persist. I tried specifying a license but that didn't do much.

If anyone encountered this problem before I would be most grateful if he/she would share the solution with me.

Sincerely,

P.

Just wonder if you are using any trial license or free OpenCore Plus evaluation feature? Probably the trial has expired.

I am pretty sure I am not but is there a way to verify? I only downloaded the web edition plus the cyclone V family package.

So I tried to create an other user and install Quartus Web edition there, alas, no result. Soooooooo, exceeded by a crappy piece of software (I know its not terrible, I'm just tired of not knowing why it doesn't work) I installed Quartus back in a fresh VM and I made a snapshot of it. Not ideal but it work. If the problem occurs again, I can revert back to a previous edition of Quartus web edition without asking too many questions. I know a previous thread had the same problem and it had 8000 views with no answers.

Right now I do not have the enough knowledge of Quartus (or time) to pinpoint the problem, sadly. I think it would be a fun test to upgrade to a subscription to see if it's really license related but unfortunately, a poor student such as I will have to wait. It seem to be quite a uncommon problem and I believe (hopefully, I am wrong) that a software dev from Quartus would be the only one able to fix it. Right now I do not have a solution but if someone wish for me to test stuff on the faulty software, I will not be uninstalling it right away. So, if you have an idea, feel free to contact me.

Have you tried to raise a support ticket?

Correct me if I am wrong but I was under the assumption the a support ticket would only be answered for people who had an actual subscription and not just the free web edition.

Hi Phets5,

My understanding is that as long as you have a company email address, then you can sign up an account at MySupport and raise a ticket.

Then I will try. If I get any type of answer, I will update this thread.
