I accidently dragged out the 'Group List' window from its original position when I was using the Pin Planner, and I cannot drag it back to where it used to be;what's worse,I cannot see the 'Pad View' window agian!

I even restalled the software and it still won't work.

Can someone help me,please?

I'm dying from this problem.

Best regards!

I'm not sure I understand. Maybe you can attach a screenshot. Why can't you put the "Group List" window back where you want it. Also, if you click "View->Pad View" from within the pin planner, do you not get the "Pad View" window?

It's like this:before I dragged it, the 'Groups List' was between the 'Accelerator Bar' and the 'Top View' window, with a smaller size;after I dragged it, I cannot adjust its size and I have to put it in a position that I feel unconfortable.

I think I can accept the unconvenient above; the real problem is : I click "View -> Pad View", and there's already a black dot there, which I think means I've chosen the 'Pad View', but what I see is still the 'Top View';weird thing, I re-click "View -> Pad View", and the black dot is still there; I cannot delete that.

I will upload some pictures later; the internet connections are not so good here at this time.

Thanks!

The Pad View is a separate window from the Package View.

If the black dot is still there this means that your Pad View is opened and it is somethere. I suppose it is a floating window and you drag it somethere outside the Pin planner window and even outside boundaries of your monitor view so it is hidden for you.

Thanks for all your attentions!

I've got an image of that situation.

But I don't know how to upload it to Altera Forum,so I saved it in my gmail.

Someone intrested please log in my gmail with 'UserName:LutherFreeman' and 'Keyword:123456789abcd';it's in the 'Sent Mail' item and titled "Lost Pad View".

I believe it's OK not to look at the image;I just want to describe the situation clearly.

In the image, you can see that the 'Pad View' button has been pressed;yet I cannot see the 'Pad View' window, nor could I undo the 'Pad View' button by re-click it.

Does someone know another way to close the 'Pad View' window, besides by clicking the 'Pad View' button ?(If the window has been shut down, I won't see any image of it and the 'Pad View' button won't be pressed, right?)

Question 1:Actually I've dragged it back now.I think it's just a matter of dragging skill.

Question 2:No, I cannot get that.Actually I can see that the 'Pad View' button has been pressed, yet I cannot get the window. And I cannot undo the 'Pad View' button by re-clicking it, ie, I re-click the button; I cannot see the 'Pad View' window and the 'Pad View' button remains being pressed.

Definitively, this Pad View window is opened and is hidden somethere. But I don't know how to close it without clicking on it :-(

For future reference; these temporary settings are actually stored in the project's "db" directory. Delete the "db" directory and everything goes back to the default. This is also why re-installing didn't solve your problem. They follow the project.

This is not true, at least for Pin planner. I've deleted the db sub-folder, but the Pin Planned and Pad View window remain to be displayed at the same place in my monitor.

I think this settings are stored somethere in the windows register, but i can be wrong

Works on my machine. What version of the tools are you using?

Me too.Except that I cannot the 'Pad View' window.I close all the List Windows;just the 'Top View' window remains in the screen. Then I close the current project and open a new one, compile it and check the 'Pin Planner'; as a result, the List Windows remain unselected.

By the way, mine is version 9.0

You are correct. They changed something in 9.0. I was using my 8.1 machine at home. I'll see if I can find the temp settings for 9.0.

Yeah it's in the registry. I found it but I don't dare recommend how to manipulate it.
