Modifying MAX V UFM Externally

I am trying to find out if the MAXV5M106Z User Flash Memory (UFM) can be modified without changing the CFM and without recompiling the macro, i.e. just modify the .hex or .mif file and reload it info flash.

Has anyone done this?
