NIOS 2 won't flash.

Hello all,

This is my first post here. First some background on the problem... I'm the new and only developer on this system that was designed and implemented for a few years. The original developers are long gone and unavailable for consulting and so I'm trying to first rebuild the design environment. I'm using all the original tools that were used before Quartus 6.0 and NIOS 2 IDE. I am trying to flash the original configuration to the FPGA using JTAG and can only get as far as writing the Quartus files but fail when trying to write the NIOS part. I also have all the compiled files and I think that the developer had intended on us to be able to just use the .sh and .sof files to reflash if needed.

I've spent the last week or so chasing down problems and made a ton of progress. I'm now throwing in the towel and asking for help =)

Here is what bothers me and has me popping all over the forums.

1. On the SOPC builder on the very bottom is a comment that says "cpu_0 was generated with full capabilities and must be compiled in Quartus 2 with the same license.

- I take this to mean that I can't use the .sh and .sof files since I had a problem with the nios 2 programmer where the program button was greyed out until I opened and closed the SOPC builder. My response to this was to generate a new SOPC in the builder and THEN compile the quartus project which was successful with only 9,244 warning but 0 errors. Was that the correct order? The comment above never cleared though... not sure if it ever will.

2. from time to time when programming the nios I get the following error: "m_state == state_debug" failed: file "nios2debug.cpp", line 1649

-it doesn't happen everytime but has me concerned.

Finally I have attached the errors received in the console when trying to program the nios 2 as well as the warning from quartus.

Any help would be wonderful. Thanks in advance.
