Question about the PL-USB2-BLASTER

Hi,
We bought the PL-USB2-BLASTER from Mouser and Digi Key, and in both orders the product arrived with the information “Engineering Sample”. See attached.

Is the product safe and ready to use?

Thanks and best regards

Sidonio

USB Blaster II is like 15 or 20 year old tech at this point (if not older).  I don't know why it says "Engineering Sample" but I wouldn't worry.

Hi,
user guide release 1.0 is from Jan. 2014, thus 11 years old. ES version is most likely distributor stock of similar age. The product has no electrolytic capacitors as far I'm aware of and doesn't age fast.

Since the day code is so old, you probably received original Engineering samples that were not available for distribution. In most cases, they are unlimited supply. It’s like when a product runs out of stock in a store, and a customer wants one really bad. They will usually take the floor model.

Hello,

Need to ask from distributor if you want to replace the USB Blaster II with non-ES version.

We tried two different distributors, Digi Key and Mouser, and both of them delivered the ES version.

It seems to be the only version in the market now.

Is it safe to use?

Hi,

Have you contacted with your distributors and ask them why they shipped the ES version? And ask if they can shipped USB Blaster that is not ES?

To answer your question, of course there is not problem to use the ES version.

Aiman
