RS-232 PC Connection

Hello, 

 

I'm working in a Altera DE2-70 board and I need to make a connection to the PC using the RS-232 Serial Port. My question is if I can connect the board directly to the PC or I need to make a external circuit for make this connection. 

 

I already know the board uses a ADM3202 transceiver chip for RS-232 communication, this chip converts the voltages between board and PC?

Simply use a straight RS-232 cable to connect the board to a PC.
