Hi
I am looking for the qsf assignment for the tx vod gain in Stratix IV.
The assignment editor present vod for the lvds but not for the transmitter of the XCVR.

Hi

EP4SGX230FF35I3

I tried the following:

PROGRAMMABLE_VOD but the range is 0 - 3 instead of 0 -7 and I got a fitter error regarding the IO standard (I use PCML).

Also, I tried XCVR_TX_VOD_PRE_EMP_CTRL_SRC

Although it is not in the assignment editor.

Omer

Hi Omer,

Are you finding the available transceiver parameters for the tx vod gain (0-3V) in the assignment editor? Please correct me if I understand it wrongly.

Hi

Yes, but according to the transceiver user guide the VOD can accept values from 0 to 7.

Moreover, as I stated before this assignment is most likely for the LVDS and not for the the transceiver (tx path).

Due to the fitter error I get with respect to the IO standard.

As it seems, in Stratix IV all the configuration parameters of the Tx side are in the IP itself.

But the assignments of the available parameters are not included in the assignment editor.

More over, if I compare it to the TTK parameters there is a mismatch between the available parameters in the TTK with respect to the IP it self.

Hi Omer,

You can set the Tx Vod value inside the IP setting itself and change the value of the the Tx Vod through the dynamic reconfiguration controller. For further information about this, you may refer to link below pg 36 https://cdrdv2-public.intel.com/654497/stx4_siv52001.pdf

Hi

Yes, I know I can configure it via the IP itself, I wrote it in my reply.

But still there is a mismatch between the options that TTK offers to the parameters in the IP.

For example: DFE in the TTK do not exist in the IP.

The IP offers only DC gain and nothing more.

Moreover, the parameters are not reflected to the QSF and there is no option to set different parameters to each lane and lane.

All the set parameters are included for all lanes (unlike the TTK which gives you the option to configure individual set of parameters to each transceiver lane).

As it seems, this is the state.

1. The flexibility in the TTK do not exist in the IP.

2. There is no option to set individual parameters to each transceiver lane.

3. There is no option to set parameters via the QSF.

Hi Omer,

If you would like to dynamic control the equalization, you can do it through ALTGX_RECONFIG IP.
