Substitute to Flash - S29AL032D

Hi there guys,

I've been evaluating my design on a DE0-board from Terasic. It comes with a Spansion S29AL032D Flash memory. I've used IP such as the CFI-controller in SoPC-builder and now want to try my design on a board. Anyhow I browsed suppliers for the S29AL032D memory but didn't seem to find it. Went to Spansion's website and they state "Not recommended for new designs". Now to my question, can someone recommend a substitute memory that will work with the same SoPC-configuration etc.?

Cheers,

Take a look at Numonyx M29W320E or other Spansion flash families (i.e. S29GL032).

In all cases I don't think sopc builder CFI component is a problem.

On the other hand you may need slight changes in driver/software if the flash structure is somewhat different, with features like boot blocks, page access.

Cris72,

Thanks for your help. I will buy one from the S29GL032 family and evaluate it.
